I have had this on my shelf for years, but my wife says I don't need so many machines! Happy wife, Happy life, right?
This Victor Challenger from early 1940 does not have original paint, but the interesting part is that it has paint at all.The Challenger was a very short lived machine....only a few months...and it was usually a Porcelain machine. That makes this painted version unusual. The Challenger was replaced by the "Esquire" later in 1940, and its "legs" disappeared. Like the Pre-War Model V, the body and base are cast iron. It is built like a tank, weighing almost 17 lbs. This vendor has been painted a nice Hammertone Green. It came to me with a stripped side rod thread, but I repaired that. Otherwise, you can see the nearly flawless Challenger decal on a very hard-to-find "Fat Cylinder" globe, and the overall nice condition (with only a couple small paint chips). It works well on a penny. Please call me or email with questions, info@bubogum.com. $350.
