Jay Walton Blount made these machines for his personal vending route in Ohio, starting in the early 1940s. Later, he changed the coin acceptors to 10c, and still later, 25c. So that eventually his machines went on for over 75 years. The last time I spoke with him, Jay's son, now in his late 70s, was still running the route. These machines were much nicer than the competition, The Blount is an improved version of the Columbus M with a more functional lid, base, and mechanism. The aluminum machine was never painted and was taken back to the warehouse and polished every time the machine was refilled. This 5c machine has been left unpolished for many years and is all original.
